This thread is a hub for general discussion and questions about Formula 1, that don't need threads of their own.Īre you new to Formula 1? This is the place for you. Welcome to the /formula1 Daily Discussion / Q&A thread. Submitted by sweetenermaz to TheCivilService Ģ023.03.09 08:09 Heezy1989 Doing the pharmacies job I’m really reflecting on what I want out of life and trying to picture a life where I’m genuinely happy, and a low stress, stable job is a key component of that.Īny advice, anecdotes or words of wisdom for a scared young person starting their career is appreciated. I’ll end this by saying that although I sound lazy and demotivated, I am actually exceptionally hardworking and I like to think im switched on (I think these make me susceptible to work related anxiety and burn out). So my questions are: - for anyone who has moved from the private sector to civil service, what was the difference in the pace of work, stress levels and work life balance? - Are long hours and high performance also expected in the civil service, or do people generally pack up at the end of the day and leave at 5.30 (or whenever the work day ends)? (I’m sure this varies by dept though) It is the unknown that is the problem here as I could be taking a huge risk if I leave the PS for a civil service role where I am just as stressed for less pay and benefits (hence all the research). My partner is a teacher, so salary will stagnate fairly soon unless he goes into a management position and if I go into the civil service I will be taking a considerable pay cut, but if it means I am happy and less stressed I would take that without hesitation and move out of London where the property prices are just ridiculous. My fear however is that I leave the company I am at now which has great benefits, a lovely office and good salary and bonus to try civil service work, just to be similarly stressed for less pay. I know I will not escape these anywhere, but I struggle when things are thrown at me at short notice when I have many other things on. I want to start a family in the next 5 years so flexi working is a big plus to me, I do not want to spend my (potential) children’s early years missing out because I’m in an office. I have been researching the civil service a lot (specifically DEFRA) due to what I’ve heard about as slower pace of work and better work life balance. I also want something which is generally lower stress and less anxiety inducing than constantly feeling the need to prove myself and go above and beyond and rushing to meet looming deadlines. I feel like I should have some say in that. Is it bad that I absolutely do not want to be challenged? I want a stable job, where I know what I’m doing and to be trusted to do it. My new manager is a hyperactive workaholic (albeit a nice person outside work) who wants to challenge me and push me. My team generally works long hours (8.30am-6.30-7pm) but I leave at just after 5pm (our hours are 9-5). ![]() I started a new job in finance as a graduate analyst in the City recently and whilst the company culture is great, I’m already finding myself stressing about the future. It is becoming very clear to me that I have a very low stress tolerance relating to work and above all what I want out of a career is good work life balance and to be able to leave on time at 5pm or 5.30pm, not be the only one who does so and to not worry about work or deadlines in the evenings and weekends. I have been a high achiever all my academic life and have started my career out of uni in the private sector for just over a year (I know that is nothing in the grand scheme of things). I apologise in advance if I come across as someone with a bad work ethic / lazy in this post. ![]() 4/29/2023 0 Comments Download dr.web cureit![]() ![]() Based on our scanner system, we’ve concluded that these indicators are most likely to be true positives. One downside of the Redline 360c is that it can be sluggish to alert to brief signals despite the marketing claims. The integrated GPS also alerts you to fixed red light and speed cameras. Its arrows help locate the source of the threat, it can share alerts in realtime with other drivers, it’s almost completely plug-and-play, it’s completely undetectable to radar detector detectors, and it can continue to keep itself updated over time over WiFi. It makes for an excellent all-around detector and was my go-to detector prior to the release of the Uniden R8. That said, it offers long range performance, excellent filtering to reduce false alerts, GPS built in with auto lockouts to make it more plug-and-play, Bluetooth to extend its functionality, and simple ways to keep it updated right in your car. Poor responsiveness against certain radar guns.It ticks just about every box you could want. It’s a long range detector with arrows, good false alert filtering, and some of the best hands-free automation. The Escort Redline 360c is a top pick for a long range plug-and-play radar detector on the market. Note: Due to a recently discovered issue with alert responsiveness, I’m currently pausing my recommendation for the Redline 360c until Escort fully resolves the issue. If I had to run just one radar detector, the Uniden R8 would be it.Įscort Redline 360c: Best Plug-and-Play Radar Detector ($799) The bluetooth is still deactivated right now and someone is working on an Android app for the detector, but there’s still no concrete ETA for that to be released.ĭespite its weaknesses, I find it does an excellent job at letting you know when there’s radar around you while still filtering out many false alerts. Uniden also isn’t releasing any apps for the detector, despite it having Bluetooth built-in. Most people don’t need this feature, but if you do need a stealth detector, you’ll want a R元60c or V1 Gen2 instead. It is also detectable by radar detector detectors at close range. The arrows work well, the front facing mute button is a nice upgrade over the R7, and it even now tells you which laser gun the officer is using when they target you with laser.Īs far as downsides, the automatic GPS lockouts don’t work well so you’ll want to manually lock out stationary false alerts by double pressing the mute button when you pass speed signs and automatic door openers. It’s a top notch performer against all forms of police radar. In short I run it because it offers long range on both K and Ka band with its new low noise amplifiers (LNA’s) while also being responsive to brief and quick radar shots on both K and Ka (unlike the Redline 360c and V1 Gen2). It offers great range and responsiveness, good false alert filtering, arrows, GPS features, plus bonus capabilities like photo radar detection and bluetooth.
